Individuals presenting an abstract at the meeting must register as a member, nonmember, student member, or student nonmember, and may not register as a guest. Guest registration is limited to members of the non-scientific community. Note: Abstract submission fees do not include registration for the meeting.

Member

SfN member. View categories.

Emeritus Member

SfN Emeritus Members receive complimentary registration for Neuroscience 2019.

Nonmembers

Postdoctoral fellows, hospital residents, interns, and laboratory technicians, even if in a training program, do not qualify for a reduced student rate.

Student Nonmembers

A student working toward an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degree in neuroscience or an allied field qualifies for a reduced student rate. Student identification or proof of qualifying student status is required when registering on-site.

Guest

A non-scientific family member or guest of a scientist. Guest registration fee includes a badge, admission to social events, and access to a scientific event for the sole purpose of observing the registered scientist's presentation. The following process and restrictions apply:

  • A guest is only allowed to register once during the annual meeting.
  • A maximum of two guests per registrant are allowed.
  • Guests are only allowed to be at the annual meeting one full day. Include the guest name(s) on the annual meeting registration form.
  • Include the day the registered scientist's presentation will be given on the registration form. The indicated day is printed on the guest's badge.
  • The guest must be with the main registrant in order to register as a guest onsite. No exceptions.
  • Guests are admitted to scientific events (including poster and nanosymposium sessions and the exhibit area) only on the day printed on the guest badge.
  • Individuals age 17 and under will not be permitted to attend the annual meeting without adult supervision, and badges will not be issued to these individuals.

Press

Visit the Press Room for more information (coming soon).

High School

High school students may attend the annual meeting in the presence of a chaperone with a maximum of four students per chaperone. Registration must first be approved by the Neuroscience Literacy Department. To request approval, send an email to baw@sfn.org for more details expressing your interest. Please include the chaperone’s name, email, and mailing address. Once the application has been reviewed, the applicant will be contacted by SfN. Chaperones who are non-scientific and are attending the meeting solely to accompany their students will be charged the same rates as the students. Payment will be taken on-site in one payment: $25 for one day or $100 for the week.

The email application may be submitted by teachers who want to bring their student(s) to the meeting or by parents who would like to bring their high school student.

Place Your Registration on Hold for Organization or Company Payment

The Registration on Hold option is available for online credit card payments only. Individuals who require their organization/company to pay for their registration may select this option. You may start the registration process and select the "Registration on Hold" option. This will allow you to place your registration on hold until SfN receives payment. An email will be sent to you and the payer with a link allowing the payer to pay for the registration.

For the advance registration fee to apply, payment must be received by the advance registration deadline: Wednesday, October 2, 11:59 p.m. EDT. After this date, higher registration fees will apply.

Note: Your registration is not complete until SfN receives payment, and housing reservation access won't be permitted until payment has been made.

Printed Programs

As part of its commitment to environmental stewardship and resource conservation, the Society has enhanced its digital offerings for accessing scientific program content in order to reduce the overall number of printed program books. All Neuroscience 2019 program information will be accessible free of charge via the following methods:

  • Neuroscience 2019 Mobile App: The meeting app will be available as a free download on iPad, iPhone, and Android devices. This year's app is better than ever, with improved schedule features, more detailed map views, and new exhibitor search functionality. This tool will be available in the fall.
  • Neuroscience Meeting Planner (NMP): The NMP lists all program content and allows you to build your schedule before you arrive in Chicago. NMP computer terminals also will be available onsite in the convention center.
  • Annual Meeting Website: PDF versions of the daily program books will be available online prior to the meeting.

Fees for printed program are as follows:

  • SfN Members
    • Full Program Set: $40 ($45 after October 2)
  • Nonmembers
    • Full Program Set: $50 ($55 after October 2)

Note: No refunds will be issued for program purchases after Wednesday, October 2.
