Trainee Professional Development Award
TPDA Applications Are Now Closed.
The Trainee Professional Development Award (TPDA) recognizes undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who demonstrate scientific merit and excellence in research.
TPDA recipients who participate in Neuroscience 2022 (November 12-16) in San Diego, CA will present an abstract on-site and network with other scientists. Recipients will receive complimentary registration and a stipend to offset travel costs ($1,000 for North America-based trainees (U.S., Canada, Mexico) or $2,500 for trainees based in other countries).
SfN recognizes some TPDA candidates may not be able to attend Neuroscience 2022 in-person in San Diego. For such trainees, SfN will provide complimentary registration to the Virtual Component of Neuroscience 2022 but will not provide any travel stipend. TPDA applicants must indicate their travel plans (in-person or virtual) in their original application to the TPDA program and must reconfirm their travel status at the time of award notification.
All TPDA recipients, regardless of how they participate in Neuroscience 2022, also receive access to professional development opportunities on Neuronline in the year following their award. Through curated email messaging and live chat opportunities, recipients connect on a variety of career development topics.
The aim of these awards is to promote the advancement of career training to neuroscientists from a wide range of institutions. SfN seeks to promote gender equality and increase diversity in all forms throughout its programs. Awards are distributed based on the merit of the trainee’s application.
Please see the TPDA FAQs for more information about the award, eligibility, the application, and professional development opportunities.
