The Latin American Training Program (LATP), a year-long online neuroscience training program open to young investigators from Latin America and the Caribbean, welcomes the largest cohort in the Program’s six-year history.

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) will present John Pollock, PhD; Nancy Michael, PhD; Taissa Lytchenko; and Brian Lim, with this year’s Science Education and Outreach Awards, comprising the Science Educator and the Next Generation Awards.

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) will present the Donald B. Lindsley Prize to Kiah Hardcastle, PhD, and Christopher Zimmerman, PhD. Supported by an endowment from the Grass Foundation, the prize recognizes outstanding PhD theses in the area of general behavioral neuroscience. The $2,500 award was established in 1979 in honor of Donald B. Lindsley, an early trustee of the Grass Foundation.

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) will present Viviana Gradinaru, PhD, and Weizhe Hong, PhD, with this year’s Young Investigator Award. The $15,000 award, supported by Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, recognizes the outstanding achievements and contributions by a young neuroscientist who has demonstrated scholarly independence.

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) will present Hidehiko Inagaki, PhD, and Vidhya Rangaraju, PhD, with this year’s Peter and Patricia Gruber International Research Awards. The $25,000 award, supported by The Gruber Foundation, recognizes two young neuroscientists for outstanding research and educational pursuit in an international setting.

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) will present the Nemko Prize in Cellular or Molecular Neuroscience to William Allen, PhD and Ashley Lepack, PhD. Supported by the Nemko Family, The Nemko Prize recognizes young neuroscientists for their PhD thesis that advances the understanding of molecular, genetic, or cellular mechanisms underlying higher brain function and cognition.

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) will present four awards to leading researchers who have made significant contributions to the advancement of women in neuroscience and early-career researchers who have demonstrated great originality and creativity in their work.

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) will present the Jacob P. Waletzky Award to Lorenzo Leggio, MD, PhD, during SfN’s Awards Announcement Week 2020. The award, supported by the Waletzky Award Prize Fund and the Waletzky Family, is given to a young scientist whose independent research has led to significant conceptual and empirical contributions to the understanding of drug addiction.

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) will present the Julius Axelrod Prize to Morgan Sheng, MBBS, PhD. Supported by an endowment from the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation, the $30,000 Axelrod prize honors distinguished achievements in neuropharmacology or a related area in addition to exemplary efforts in mentoring young scientists.
