The Society of Neuroscience (SfN) will honor Mary Kay Lobo, a professor in the department of anatomy and neurobiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, with this year’s Jacob P. Waletzky award.

Dear SfN Members and Neuroscience Community,
I wish to communicate my personal profound disappointment at the decision to cancel the in-person meeting in Chicago and I hope you will take the time to read this letter in its entirety.

The Society for Neuroscience will hold Neuroscience 2021 as a fully virtual experience, eliminating all in-person options that had been planned for McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Neuroscience 2021 will take place online November 8-11, 2021, with Preview Days taking place November 3-7, which allows attendees to preview posters as well as full symposia and minisymposia talks prior to the official meeting dates.

David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian, pioneering neuroscientists whose work discovered receptors for touch and temperature, have been awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
